Pregnancy Update: 14 Weeks

This baby deep inside of me, ever so small, is a child of God. A child that God gave to me to take care of whether for a day or for years. That care began at conception. Whether he or she lives or dies each day I am with him or her is a gift and has a purpose with eternal consequences. My baby is now a part of my life, my testimony. -Brenda Rodgers, "New Rules for Announcing a Pregnancy"
How far along: 14 weeks!

"more fluid-like in his movements ... Other developments this week include a roof of his own (inside his mouth, that is) as well as intestinal activity: His intestines are producing meconium (which is the waste that will make up his first bowel movement after birth). He is also sporting a downy coating of hair (lanugo) that keeps him nice and warm. "-What to Expect When You're Expecting, 4th Edition

Baby size:  "the size of your clenched fist" -What to Expect When You're Expecting, 4th Edition

Gender: We'll find out when he/she arrives in March!

Belly: The baby belly is growing! The change is exciting to watch. I'm amazed to see "the bump" become more prominent in only a two week time period.

Sleep: Sleep is ... well, it is what it is. I'm so thankful for the ability to rest or nap during the day when needed!

Clothes: I think a shopping trip is on the horizon! Fortunately, I have several shirts that are of a flowy style and so still work well. The biggest growing need is skirts. I have two knit skirts that still work, but the others are getting a little uncomfortable. I found a few fantastic maternity skirt patterns by the Etsy shop, Lou Lou James Creative Studio. I can't wait to receive them and begin sewing!

Movement: Okay, so my  Pregnancy Fitness dvd is still sitting. We have at least gone for walks around the neighborhood a few times. It has been way too nice outside to choose a dvd over taking a walk!

Baby Movement- I keep feeling a particular strange sensation, which makes me think it's the baby. By the time I notice it it's gone. It could just be anticipation for the day I do feel him/her moving! haha.

Food aversions: Food aversions seem to be easing. I still prefer foods I'm familiar with and can eat lots of. Poor hubby's love for experimenting in the kitchen is currently on hold. haha.

Food cravings: I seem to have taken a turn towards the ability to eat and eat and eat. I'm pretty much loving anything I'm familiar with and can eat in large quantities. haha. Panera's broccoli and cheese soup has been a frequent choice. We may have gone out a time or two at 8:30pm for a bowl of soup! haha.

What I'm excited about: The appointment went fantastic last week! A couple of the "concerns" they were monitoring have been resolved or are essentially resolved. In addition, we got to see the baby moving on the ultrasound! I wasn't expecting that at all, and so it was such a wonderful surprise! I'm so glad hubby was there to see & hear the heartbeat as well as see him/her move! Of course, now I'm constantly thinking, "I wonder if he/she is moving around now?!" If a video was made of all that movement seen on the ultrasound, I'm pretty sure I could sit and watch it all day! Haha. We received lots of new photos. My favorite is the one of his/her little legs all stretched out. Incredible!

  1. I know you don't know me, but I follow your blog from time to time and have received many useful tips and recipes for my family. I am so happy for you and your hubby as you expect your 1st wee one :) What I've noticed in your comparison pictures beside the growing little belly is the length of your growing hair! Don't know if you enjoy long hair, but it looks very nice on you. You are absolutely beaming in each photo! (Radiantly happy) God Bless You and Your Husband in the upcoming months and as you embark on the wonderful journey of child rearing. Ruthie

    1. Ruthie, thanks for following the blog! I'm glad you're here! My hair typically grows pretty fast but it's been working over time lately. It is incredible to see how much it grows as well in only a two week time span. Fortunately, long is my preferred hair length (partly because I can't keep up with keeping it short haha). Thank you for such sweet words left in your comment! :)
